This shirt is a response to the great poem entitled, "Harlem" by Langston Hughes. The poem was written as a reflection of the experience of African Americans in the 1950s. Since we faced so many hardships, Hughes used this poem to explain what happens to a group of people who are not allowed to live up to their fullest potential. The awesome thing about this poem is that 12 years later Dr.King would share his dream at the March on Washington, and 60 years later you and I would be living some of that dream. The tee was created to honor all dreams that felt deferred. We still have so many obstacles to overcome but we are refusing to allow anyone to limit us and it is a beautiful thing.
