This shirt is a response to the great poem entitled, "Harlem" by Langston Hughes. The poem was written as a reflection of the experience of African Americans in the 1950s. Since we faced so many hardships, Hughes used this poem to explain what happens to a group of people who are not allowed to live up to their fullest potential. The saying on the shirt is my response to what African Americans look like in 2018. We still have so many obstacles to overcome but we are refusing to allow anyone to limit us and it is a beautiful thing.
